Creative Collaboration
Editorial · Original Concepts
During the 2023 writers' strike, work across the entertainment industry slowed and many of us found ourselves in an unfamiliar creative pause. Rather than wait for the industry to pick back up, a group of artists: photography, wardrobe, hair, makeup, modeling and assisting came together to create. There was no client or commercial brief; just an opportunity to make something original, challenge one another creatively, and stay inspired during an uncertain moment.
THE STORY
I approached the wardrobe through bold color, exaggerated proportion, and texture. I used the sculptural pink ruffles as the visual anchor with unexpected elements like zebra print and the nostalgic floral setting. The second outfit combined femininity with a soft edge, less volume, but more body contouring for juxtaposition. Each artist brought an unique perspective, allowing the final imagery to evolve through genuine collaboration.
CREATIVE APPROACH
The collaboration produced a striking editorial series that became more than a creative exercise. The images strengthened our individual portfolios, showcased what we could create beyond commissioned work, and ultimately helped generate new opportunities during a period when work was especially needed. More importantly, the project reinforced the power of creative community.
